Over the last few months, I’ve been scouting for the best restaurants in Rosebank, Johannesburg. After a long, hectic day running up and down the commerce capital of South Africa, you need some time to sit down and enjoy some delightful food—especially when you don’t have enough energy to whip a meal in your kitchen.
Rosebank is one of the affluent regions of Jo’burg—it’s a cosmopolitan commercial hub and one of the main attractions for tourists from all over the world who visit Johannesburg. Therefore, I found myself sampling some of the best restaurants here.
As you’d expect, there’s so much to do in this suburb stroke commercial hub, considering its worldwide attraction. The restaurant scene here is intercontinental—a mix of South African culture and global undertones.
These are some of the finest restaurants in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

PROUD MARY
I’ve heard my fair share of party life, and I know anything with the word Mary isn’t about social sanity as it sounds. PROUD MARY is none of that. It’s an urban eatery and wine bar. The way it’s set up and run puts it on a level of its own—it is simply one of the best restaurants in Rosebank, and the reviews speak for themselves.
It’s located in the heart of the Rosebank foodie district, and it stands out from everything around it. I checked it out at dusk, and it felt like I was in New York—I’m talking about the vibe, the food, drinks, and even the people inside—honestly, you’d think it is choreographed. This restaurant appeals to a very interesting crowd of patrons with good vibes.
PROUD MARY serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s a haven for wine lovers, offering some of the region’s most refined local, small-batch, and independent winery options.
What you can eat at PROUD MARY: I recommend sampling their Moroccan Chicken. You can also enjoy Steak with wedgies, Pork belly, Sea Food, Tuna Salad, Oxtail Croquettes, Vegetarian Options, Mushroom and Cauliflower Risotto, Squid, Burgers, Wines, cocktails, and a tasty selection of starters.

Level Four Restaurant
Level Four Restaurant is also located in the middle of Rosebank. This dining establishment offers a bespoke experience designed with classic decor reminiscent of retro affluence. It feels like a facelifted 1600s Monarch ballroom with bright colors and silver and gold accents that are timeless and refined.
Step into the premises and the aroma and decor immediately tell you that the kitchen staff is A1. The kitchen staff is on top of their game, and the servers are 5-star (ask for patience). Level Four Restaurant offers nine-course meals – please come prepared to tease your senses.
Foodies can opt for the Chef’s table and enjoy how the magic unfolds in the kitchen at the level 4 table. I recommend this spot if you want to wow a date or simply surprise your better half on an anniversary celebration. You’ll be stunned!
What you can eat at Level Four Restaurant: I recommend the nine-course meal at the Level 4 table. It’s worth experiencing, and it takes up to three hours—but you’ll be smiling.

MY Diners Rosebank
If you want a great spot to enjoy some Tikka, I recommend checking out MY Diners Rosebank. They do everything – dining, deliveries, and takeaway services. They also offer catering services for all events, including corporate, birthdays, and weddings.
MY Diners Rosebank has been around since the mid-90s and has earned a reputation for serving some of the best Tikka in South Africa. According to the management, all their ingredients are fresh and prepared daily.
If you can visit MY Diners Rosebank, ask for Susan. An acquaintance recommended her, and she delivered way past our expectations. You’ll love the aesthetic (gorgeous trees). Despite being an Indian restaurant, they’ve gone over and above to include a modern touch that glistens.
What you can eat at MY Diners Rosebank: Of course, the Tikka. I had Chicken Tikka and Mutton Bunny Chow. You can also try Butter Chicken, Naan (sample the garlic-flavored), lamb pulao, Mixed Grill, Biriyani, Lamb Pershiwari, milkshakes, and creams.

Ethos
Ethos is undeniably one of the best restaurants in Rosebank, Johannesburg. This Mediterranean reservation-only restaurant is a high-end establishment that offers the top tastes in South Africa. Ethos is refined; you’ll feel it immediately when you walk through its doors.
I was here for a date, and the affluence, decor, and accents drew me in. The food was flavorful and rich in taste and aroma. I was fascinated by the detail the entire team put in the displays, which immediately excited my senses—if I could, I’d dine here every day.
Ethos also has a bar area with many wine selections and cocktails you could imagine.
I’d recommend the staff for their situational intelligence. They’ll surprise you with complimentary items either by secretly confining to you or reading the room. I experienced this playful kitchen artistry for the first time, and I loved it!

The Grillhouse Rosebank
Meat lovers will have a kick at The Grillhouse Rosebank. It’s one of my favorites and undeniably the best restaurant in Rosebank for grilled meat. This grill house has been around for some time (1994), and as you’ll find out, they know their stuff—the food here is simply sumptuous.
It might be a meat-eaters haven, but The Grillhouse Rosebank is an upscale kitchen outfit with a white table, a specialty in steaks and ribs, and, for wine lovers, an impressive list of wines and cocktails.
I have a weakness for establishments with warm colors, and The Grillhouse Rosebank has me covered on this front. The atmosphere, decor, and environment are to die for. They immediately set the mood for a great meal ahead.
What you can eat at The Grillhouse Rosebank: Interesting. There are many vegan options, the most standout being the vegan bolognese pasta. You can also enjoy their range of salads, seafood, chicken, and popular ice cream and brownies for the sweet tooths. You can also enjoy Ribeye, Giant Beef Rib, king klip, and Oxtail.
